A Special Court in Mumbai on Friday rejected former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s application seeking treatment in a private hospital. Deshmukh, in his plea, had requested permission for surgery on his shoulder at a private hospital instead of state-run J. J. Hospital.
The Enforcement Directorate, investigating the case relating to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, objected to his plea saying the state-run hospital is fully equipped with qualified doctors and other necessary things to conduct the surgery. Deshmukh has been in jail since last November after a money laundering case was filed against him by ED.
