Domestic equity markets suffer another day of losses amid volatility

Domestic equity markets on Tuesday suffered another day of losses amid volatility. The Sensex and the Nifty fell paring early gains amidst last hour selling. The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange closed below 54,400 points while the Nifty at National Stock Exchange was settled below 16,250 level.

The Sensex downed by 106 points, or 0.19 percent to finish at 54,365 while the Nifty fell 61 points, or 0.38 percent, to end at 16,240.

In the forex market, appreciated by 14 paise against the US dollar the domestic currency was closed at 77 rupees and 33 paise against the American Unit.

Gold prices, at Multi Commodity Exchange for June contracts, was trading at 50,915 rupees per 10 gram while Silver was trading at 61,380 rupees per kilogram for July Contracts when reports last came in.

In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading around 103 dollars and 63 cents per barrel level.
