India’s Department of Agriculture and farmer’s welfare and US Department of Agriculture have signed a framework agreement for implementing the 2 Vs 2 Agri market access issues. It includes inspection and oversight transfer for Indian mangoes and pomegranate and market access for pomegranate arils from India. It also includes market access for US cherries and U.S Alfalfa hay.
Commerce Ministry has said that export of mango and pomegranate will start from January – February this year. It said that exports of pomegranate aril will start from April. The ministry added that exports of Alfalfa hay and cherries from the US will also begin in April.
Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has also conveyed its readiness to provide market access for US pork. It has requested the US side to share a signed copy of final sanitary certificate for finalizing the same.
