HM Amit Shah to make a statement in Parliament later this afternoon on firing incident in Nagaland

Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to make a statement on the firing incident in Nagaland in the post-lunch session in Parliament today. The firing incident in Nagaland was raised in both the Houses of Parliament.

 

In the Lok Sabha, member from Nagaland, Mr Tokheho Yepthomi of the NDDP raised the issue as the matter of urgent public importance. He said the lives of innocent people have been snuffed out due to the unfortunate firing by security personnel. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said proper compensation to the affected families must be announced by the centre.

T R Baalu of DMK said a thorough inquiry should be conducted and efforts must be made to ensure that such incidents do not recur. Sudhip Bandopadhyay of the AITC, Vinayak Raut of the Shiv Sena, Rajiv Ranjan Singh of the JD (U), Supriya Sule of the NCP and several other members also spoke on the issue.

Speaker Om Birla said Home Minister Amit Shah will make a statement in the House in the post-lunch session.

In the Rajya Sabha also the matter was raised. Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said the Home Minister will make a statement in the House.
