Election Commission announces three-phase panchayat elections in Madhya Pradesh beginning Jan 6

In Madhya Pradesh, State Election Commission has announced schedule for panchayat elections in the state. In the three-phase exercise, voting will be held on January 6, 28 and February 16, said State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh.

Elections will be held for 850 posts of zila panchayat members, 6,727 members of janpad panchayat, 22,581 sarpanch and 3,62,754 posts of panch across the state.

In the first phase of civic body elections, voting will be held in nine districts, seven districts in second phase and the remaining 36 districts in the final phase.

The publication of election information and the receipt of nomination papers will start on December 13 for the first and second phase and on December 30 for the third phase. The last date for receipt of nomination papers is December 20 for first and second Phase while January 6 for Third Phase.
