Watch Live: PM Modi to inaugurate and lay foundation stone of multiple projects in Dehradun

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dehradun and inaugurate & lay the foundation stone of multiple projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore today at 1 PM. The major focus of the visit will be on projects to improve the road infrastructure, which will make travel smooth and safer, and also increase tourism in the region. This is in line with the PM’s vision to boost connectivity in the areas which were once considered far-flung.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of eleven development projects. This includes the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor (from Eastern Peripheral Expressway Junction to Dehradun) which will be built at a cost of around Rs 8,300 crore. It will cut the time it takes to travel from Delhi to Dehradun in half, from six hours to roughly 2.5 hours. It would be connected to Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Yamunanagar, Baghpat, Meerut, and Baraut by seven major interchanges.

In addition, the 340-meter tunnel near Dehradun’s Dat Kaali temple will further help to reduce the impact on wildlife. Also, in the Ganeshpur-Dehradun segment, various animal passages have been created to reduce animal-vehicle incidents. Rainwater harvesting would be available at 500-meter intervals and around 400 water recharge points along the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.

Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor

The greenfield alignment project from Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, connecting Halgoa, Saharanpur to Bhadrabad, Haridwar will be built at a cost of over Rs 2,000 crore. It will provide seamless connectivity while reducing travel time from Delhi to Haridwar. The Haridwar Ring Road Project from Manoharpur to Kangri will be built at a cost of over Rs 1,600 crore, will relieve traffic congestion in Haridwar city, particularly during peak tourist season, while also improving communication with the Kumaon zone.

Dehradun – Paonta Sahib road project

The Dehradun – Paonta Sahib (Himachal Pradesh) road project, to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 1,700 crore, will reduce travel time and provide seamless connectivity between the two places. It will also boost inter-state tourism. The Najibabad-Kotdwar road widening project will reduce travel time and also improve connectivity to Lansdowne.

Child-Friendly City Project

Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Child-Friendly City Project, Dehradun, which will make the city more child-friendly by making the roadways safer for them to travel on. A foundation stone will also be laid for projects worth over Rs 700 crore in Dehradun pertaining to the improvement of water supplies, roads, and drainage systems.

Vyasi Hydroelectric Project

The 120 MW Vyasi Hydroelectric Project, which was built over River Yamuna at a cost of over Rs 1,700 crore, will also be inaugurated, along with a Himalayan Culture Center at Dehradun. The Himalayan Culture Centre features a state-level museum, 800 seat art auditorium, library, conference hall, among other things, to assist people to keep track of cultural activities and enjoy the state’s cultural history.
