Fifteen organizations of Dalit community met Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Vijay Sampla and demanded stern action against those responsible for the brutal murder of a man at the site of farmers’ protest near Singhu border. The mutilated body of Lakhbir Singh was found hanging on Friday at farmers’ protest site near Singhu border. Mr Sampla said they are expecting a report from the Haryana government over the incident and will decide the next course of action. He said, NCSC has already sent a notice to DGP Haryana and Chief Secretary to take strict action and has sought a report over the gruesome incident.
The commission’s Chairman is also planning to go to the victim’s home town Tarn Taran in Punjab and meet their family members. Mr Sampla said, farmer leaders cannot wash off their hands of the entire incident as all accused were part of protesters. Moreover, the spot where they hanged Lakhbir Singh is also near the stage, he said.
National Scheduled Caste Alliance, Bhartiya Baudh Sangh, Ravidas Vishwa Mahapeeth (Delhi), Valmiki Maha Panchayat were among the organisations that met the NCSC chairman. Bhartiya Baudh Sangh president Bhante Sanghpriya Rahul said they are distressed with the incident.
