In Maharashtra, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan State Director Prakash Kumar Manure on Saturday said that the organisation would collect 5,17,020 kilograms of garbage and single use plastic till the culmination of Clean India Programme on 31st of October.
Addressing a virtual press conference, Mr. Manure said that the Sanghatan has been given a target of collecting four lakh 59 thousand 760 kilograms of garbage and single use plastic. He said, abiding by the directions of the District Magistrates, the Sangathan has been disposing garbage after it’s collection.
Thirty Seven districts from Maharashtra and Goa are participating in the Clean India Programme which was launched on 1st of this month. The programme aims to create greater awareness on cleanliness as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence.
Around 13, 136 villages would be participating from the 37 districts and three best performers from a district will be selected who will get an opportunity to meet President, Vice President, Prime Minister and Olympians.
