Bangladesh records lowest daily COVID deaths in over 7 months, lowest positivity in over 18 months

The COVID 19 situation continued to show steady improvement with single day death of 7 being reported in over 7 months on Saturday. The lowest daily death figure reported earlier was on March 11 when 6 people had died due to Corona in the country.

Bangladesh also reported the sample positivity rate of 1.88 percent which is the lowest since April 2 last year when the sample positivity rate was 1.42 percent. The country has now reported below 5 percent positivity rate continuously for 26 days.

According to the latest figures released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on Saturday, 239 new COVID 19 cases were reported from the country. The number of active cases in the country has fallen to 10,089 as of Saturday. The death toll stands at 27, 752. The recovery rate was recorded to be 97.58 percent.

The mass vaccination programme of Bangladesh continued with children above 12 also being included in the programme on an experimental basis. According to DGHS, 3.8 crore people have received the first dose of the vaccine while 1.89 crore people have received both the doses of the vaccine till Saturday.
