Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated PM Gati Shakti-National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity and new exhibition complexes of India Trade Promotion Organisation at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today. He also reviewed the model of the new exhibition complex at Pragati Maidan. In his address, the Prime Minister said the National Master Plan will provide GatiShakti to 21st century India with multimodal connectivity and next-generation infrastructure.
He said PM GatiShakti Master Plan brings the government processes and other stakeholders together and also interlinks transport modes. He added that it is the expanding of holistic governance.
Prime Minister Modi said the India of 21st Century is leaving behind old thinking and is moving forward. He said today’s mantra is – Will for progress, Work for progress, Wealth for progress, Plan for progress and Preference for progress.
The Prime Minister underlined that Master Plan GatiShakti strengthened Atmanirbar Bharat and also lays the foundation of coming 25 years of development programme.
He noted that the subject of infrastructure has not been a priority of most political parties and is not even visible in manifestoes. He said some political parties even take pride in criticizing the creation of necessary infrastructure for the country. He stressed that it is universally accepted that the creation of quality infrastructure leads to sustainable development and gives rise to many economic activities, and employment on a large scale.
Mr Modi said Gatishakti National Master Plan will also provide an analytical and decision making tool to the investors, and all the stakeholders involved in the policy making of the country. This will help the government in effective planning and policy making. He said it is important for India’s development that all departments linked to infrastructural growth come together and use each other’s collective power. This approach has given unprecedented speed to India in the last few years. The people of the Nation Industries will play a Pivotal role in this mater plan said Prime Minister.
Prime Minister said in the five years before 2014, only 3,000 kilometres of railways were electrified. He stated that in the last 7 years, more than 24 thousand kilometers of railway tracks have been electrified. Only 60 panchayats were connected with optical fiber before 2004 but in the last 7 years, more than 1.5 lakh gram panchayats have been connected with optical fiber. India has also got new infrastructure in the sector of inland waterways and sea-planes. Mr Modi said India just had 5 waterways in 2014 but today, country has 13 functional waterways. He said work is going on at a rapid speed to develop a modern ecosystem in the aviation sector. He said in order to improve air connectivity, new airports were built and air sector was opened up.
Speaking on the occasion, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India is progressing at a fast pace and PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a symbol of Mr Modi’s foresight.
He said that today’s event will send a message to Global Partners that how fast India is advancing towards the path of development.
The Minister added that the Gati Shakti plan will help to finish the development projects within given time frame.
International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that India will continue to be the world’s fastest growing major economy, clocking a growth rate of 9.5 per cent in 2021. As per latest IMF projections, Indian economy will grow at 8.5 percent in 2022. The world economy is expected to grow at 5.9 per cent in 2021 and 4.9 per cent in 2022, according to IMF. The United States is projected to grow at six per cent this year and 5.2 per cent the next year. China, on the other hand, is projected to grow at 8 per cent in 2021 and 5.6 per cent in 2022. IMF said, global recovery continues, but the momentum has weakened and uncertainty has increased.
More than 96 crore 43 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. Health Ministry said, over 50 lakh 63 thousand doses were administered yesterday. Union Health Ministry in a statement said that 15 thousand 823 new cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. India’s Active caseload stands at two lakh 7 thousand 653 and it is the lowest in 214 days. Active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases and it is currently at 0.61 per cent, the lowest since March last year. Talking to AIR News, Member NITI Aayog, Dr V K Paul said that it will be a big achievement for the country to reach 100 crore vaccination mark.
Maharashtra yesterday inoculated more than seven lakh 78 thousand people in a single day with the COVID-19 preventive vaccine, taking the total figure to over eight crore 93 lakh 34 thousand.
A total of six thousand one hundred and six vaccination sessions were organised across the state yesterday.
In the age group of 18-44 years more than three crore 29 lakh 62 thousand have taken the first dose of vaccine, whereas over 93 lakh 88 thousand have taken the second dose of the vaccine.
The data released by the state health department said, over one crore 50 lakh 89 thousand have been fully inoculated in the age group of 45 years and above.
Civil Aviation Ministry has decided to restore the scheduled domestic air operations from 18th of this month without any capacity restriction. The decision was taken after the review of the current status of scheduled domestic operators and passengers demand for air travel. The Ministry said, the airlines and airport operators shall however ensure that the guidelines to contain the spread of Covid 19 are strictly adhered to and Covid appropriate behavior is strictly enforced by them during the travel.

The eighth day of Navratri Maha Ashtami, is being celebrated across the country with religious fervour and gaiety today.
The festival also celebrated with enthusiasm in West Bengal. Since morning, people were seen assembling at the Puja Pandals as well as in traditional Durga Pujas organized at home to offer Pushpanjali. Due to the prevailing pandemic situation, lots of puja organizers have arranged virtual offerings. A large section of people took part in anjali, following Covid regulations while some preferred the virtual medium. Belur Math, the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Mission has been webcasting the Puja over social media due to Covid as devotees are not allowed to enter during the days of Durga Puja. On the occasion of Maha Ashtami, Kumari Puja was performed at Belur Math. Some other traditional puja organizers also performed Kumari Puja this morning. Sandhi Puja will also be performed tonight during the juncture of Ashtami and Navami.
Devotees have already been engaged in visiting the Durga puja pandals across Kolkata and the districts, wearing new attire, particularly in view of the prediction of rain by the met department.

In Agaratala, the Puja was observed in all the Puja pandals inviting sizable gatherings of pious people for the Auspicious “Pushpanjali” ritual. It is believed that Maha Ashtami sees the worship of the Chamunda incarnation of Goddess Shakti. It is believed that during Goddess Durga’s epic battle with Mahishasur, the goddess had killed demons Chanda, Munda, and Raktabija on Ashtami.
According to Drik Panchang, Durga Puja on Maha Ashtami begins with Mahasnan and Shodashopachar Puja.
Nine pots are kept as nine forms of the Goddess are worshipped as part of Ashtami puja. Also little girls are worshiped during Kumari Puja that also takes place on this day. One of the most significant aspects of Ashtami is the Sandhi Puja.
Meanwhile, on Ashtami day a special Puja called Kumari Puja is celebrated at Ramakrishna Mission located at Dhaleswar.
The US has said it will reopen its borders with Mexico and Canada to fully vaccinated travellers from November. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it will allow travel for non-essential purposes via land and ferry crossings. From January 2022, it will also require proof of vaccination for any travel over these crossings, essential or not. The US has restricted travel from its northern and southern neighbours since March 2020, due to the Covid pandemic.
President Joe Biden’s administration recently revealed that restrictions on fully jabbed air travellers would be eased in November.
The current rules bar entry to most non-US citizens who have been to the UK, China, India, South Africa, Iran, Brazil and a number of European countries within the last 14 days.

Finance Ministry today said one person has been arrested by Delhi CGST Officials for fraudulently claiming Input Tax Credit of 134 crore rupees. Officers of Central Goods and Services Tax Commissionerate unearthed a network of fictitious exporters availing and utilizing fake Input Tax Credit of 134 crore rupees under GST with intent to claim IGST refund fraudulently. The network of fictitious exporters was being operated by one person.
