Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the PM Gati Shakti-National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity and the new exhibition complexes of the India Trade Promotion Organisation at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi today. He also reviewed a model of the new exhibition complex at Pragati Maidan. In his address, the Prime Minister said the National Master Plan will provide GatiShakti to 21st century India with multimodal connectivity and next-generation infrastructure.

The Prime Minister underlined that Master Plan GatiShakti strengthens Atmanirbar Bharat and also lays the foundation for the coming 25 years of development programmes.
Mr Modi said the Gatishakti National Master Plan will also provide an analytical and decision making tool for investors, and all stakeholders involved in policy making of the country. This will help the government in effective planning and policy making. He said it is important for India’s development that all departments linked to infrastructural growth come together and use each other’s collective power.
Speaking on the occasion, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India is progressing at a fast pace and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a symbol of Mr Modi’s foresight.
The Confederation of Indian Industry – CII has lauded the launch of the Gati Shakti Master Plan saying that the proposed geo-spatial digital platform is a well-timed and revolutionary initiative. Director General, CII, Chandrajit Banerjee said in a statement that the initiative would spur manufacturing competitiveness by facilitating ease of doing business through improved connectivity. He said, it is a giant step towards unlocking India’s growth potential and creating jobs.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that India will continue to be the world’s fastest growing major economy, clocking a growth rate of 9.5 per cent in 2021. As per the latest IMF projections, Indian economy will grow at 8.5 per cent in 2022. The world economy is expected to grow at 5.9 per cent in 2021 and 4.9 per cent in 2022. The US is projected to grow at six per cent this year and 5.2 per cent next year. China, on the other hand, is projected to grow at 8 per cent in 2021 and 5.6 per cent in 2022.
India today strongly rejected China’s objection to a recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and asserted that the state is an integral and inalienable part of India. In response to a media query about the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s comments on the recent visit of the Vice President of India to Arunachal Pradesh, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, Indian leaders routinely travel to the state of Arunachal Pradesh as they do to any other state of India. He said, objecting to the visit of Indian leaders to an Indian state does not stand to reason.
Mr Bagchi said, further, the current situation along the Line of Actual Control LAC in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas has been caused by unilateral attempts of the Chinese side to alter the status quo in violation of bilateral agreements. The Spokesperson said, therefore, India expects the Chinese side to work towards an early resolution of the remaining issues along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh while fully abiding by the bilateral agreements and protocols rather than trying to link unrelated issues.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in Yerevan, Armenia on the third and last leg of his visit to central Asia today. He had a warm and productive meeting with the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan. They discussed a roadmap to take bilateral cooperation forward. Both agreed on enhancing trade, education and cultural exchanges.
The Ministers recognised the shared interests in strengthening connectivity, including the International North South Transport corridor. They briefed each other on their respective regional developments. Dr. Jaishankar said, India supports the OSCE Minsk process. He assured close cooperation in international organisations and multilateral forums.
Dr Jaishankar met the President of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan. They discussed the importance of nurturing the bonds between the two Parliamentary democracies.

India is marching towards touching the mark of 100 crore COVID-19 vaccination coverage. More than 96 crore 43 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. The Union Health Ministry said, over 50 lakh 63 thousand doses were administered yesterday. Fifteen thousand 823 new cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
A total of 22 thousand 844 people recovered from the infection in the same period. The recovery rate is currently at 98.06 per cent which is the highest since March last year.
The weekly positivity rate currently stands at 1.46 per cent which is less than three per cent for the last 110 days.

Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has expressed happiness over the increase in supply of coal to thermal power plants from all sources. In a tweet, Mr Joshi said, cumulative coal supplies including those from Coal India Limited have recorded more than two million tonnes yesterday. He also stated that coal dispatch to power plants will be further increased to ensure sufficient stock with power plants.
The Maharashtra Government has announced financial assistance to the tune of ten thousand crore rupees for farmers affected by heavy rain. During a State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the government decided to provide compensation of ten thousand rupees per hectare for the loss of agricultural crops.
Financial aid of fifteen thousand rupess per hectare will be given for horticulture crops and twenty five thousand rupees per hectare for the destruction of perennial crops due to flood. The government has, however, limited the compensation to just two hectares of land.
According to government estimates, crops on 55 lakh hectares of land were destroyed due to heavy rainfall between June and October this year.
