Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan visited of Trout Fish Farming Project at Kokernag in Anantnag district yesterday. Mr Murugan, who is Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandary & Dairying, inspected the rearing units, machinery and other facilities available at the farm and interacted with the fish farmers. He handed-over Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) trout unit allotments to the beneficiaries and distributed certificates of excellence among the fishers.
Earlier during the day, Mr Murugan inaugurated Sheep Breeding Farm at Zawoora in Shopian district and visited apple orchards there. On the occasion, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gives much importance to Jammu and Kashmir for developing it and is equally desires that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir progresses by each passing day.
The Minister said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir should come forward and avail the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes for increasing their income.
Dr Murugan also held an interactive session with the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, listened to their issues and assured them the redressal of their issues in a time-bound manner.
