Various programs are being organized in Maharashtra as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav celebrations. Union Government yesterday released postal stamp on four unsung heroes of Solapar in Maharashtra.

AIR correspondent reports that unveiling the stamps of four Martyrs Mallappa Dhanshetti, Jagannath Shinde, Shrikisan Sarda and Abdul Rasool Qurban Hussain who were hanged to death in 1931 for rebellion, Union Minister of State for Communications Devusing Chouhan said on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Prime Minister has taken the initiative to publish postage stamps of the unsung heroes of Indian independence to make people aware of the big sacrifices made by them. He said it’s because of their sacrifices that the country has been able to celebrate this 75th year of independence. He appealed to the people to undertake various activities in Solapur including 75 blood donation camps, 75 medical camps and plant 75,000 trees.

On the other hand, at Yavatmal district, a Freedom run was organized by the District Administration under National Service Scheme along with the Union Ministry of Youth Programs and Sports in which many students and players participated. Meanwhile, the district administration of Osmanabad has started a 45-day Constitution and Law awareness campaign at 600 Gram Panchayats, all police stations, post offices and jails in the district to make people, including the jail inmates, aware about the rights and duties of a citizen. Finally in Palghar District, various programs including legal camps and street plays were organized to create legal awareness among the people. The event was concluded with an awareness rally from Palghar Court to Hutatma Chowk Memorial.
