Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has launched 20 Paddy Procurement Centres (Mandis) in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts of the union territory. The move is aimed at ensuring the remunerative price to the farmers and timely sale of paddy. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sinha said that the money will be directly credited into the accounts of the farmers.
The LG said, the use of technology has enabled all these Mandis to get linked digitally with the procurement portal, so that the FCI can register the farmers on the portal and transfer money to their accounts through DBT within 72 hours. He assured the farmers that the number of e-Mandis will be increased further in future. The LG said the initiative would eliminate middlemen and end distress sales.
