I&B Minister Anurag Thakur to launch month-long Clean India Programme from Prayagraj

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur reached Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh this morning where he took part in a programme and paid homage to freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad by garlanding his statue at Chandrashekhar Azad Park. He led a cleanliness drive there. Mr Thakur also planted a sapling in the park. Later, the Minister participated in a meeting of BJP workers and office bearers at the Circuit House.
Mr Thakur, who also holds the Youth Affairs and Sports portfolio, will launch a month-long Clean India Programme from Prayagraj this afternoon as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This programme will continue till the month end. The aim of the cleanliness drive is to create awareness, mobilize people and ensure their involvement in cleaning waste mainly Single Use Plastic waste throughout the country.
This programme is being organised in six lakh villages of 744 districts across the country through the networks of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan-NYKS affiliated Youth Clubs and National Service Scheme-affiliated institutions.
After the launch of Clean India Mission, Mr Thakur will attend Ganga Maha Aarti at Sangam. He will also led a special cleanliness drive conducted at four places at the Sangam area. The places where cleanliness drive will be conducted are- Ramp Road Sangam, Sangam Fort Nose, Parade Ground, and Deora Parishad.
Later in the day, Mr Thakur will attend a seminar on Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Mutthi Ganj area of the town.
