Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today unveiled the statue of freedom fighter and Peshawar revolt hero Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali on his death anniversary at Peethsain in Pauri in Uttarakhand.
Recalling the contribution of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, the Defense Minister said that the bravery, sacrifice, and professionalism of Indian soldiers were introduced to the whole world during the First World War.
Mr Singh appreciated the valor of the Indian soldiers. On this occasion, he also mentioned about the welfare schemes of the Central Government.
He appreciated the work being done by Uttarakhand Government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the state.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami also made several announcements. He said that one Mukhyamantri Gramin Yuva Fitness Center would be opened at public places in 7,795-gram panchayats of the state.
He also announced to increase the purchase of electric luxury buses from 15 lakh to 20 lakh under the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Paryatan Swarozgar Yojana.
Along with this, he also announced to increase the subsidy to the entrepreneurs setting up homestays under Deen Dayal Grih Awas Yojana, up to 33 percent of the total cost, subject to a maximum amount of 12 lakh rupees.
