PM Modi leaves for home after concluding landmark visit to US

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for home after concluding a landmark visit to US where he addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, attended the first in-person Quad summit and held bilateral and multilateral engagements. Mr Modi held talks with US President Joe Biden, US Vice President Kamala Harris and his counterparts from Australia Scott Morrison and from Japan Yoshihide Suga. Prime Minister also met top American CEOs of five companies and invited them to step up their investments in the country.
In a tweet before his departure for home, Mr Modi said that he had productive bilateral and multilateral engagements over the last few days in the US. Prime Minister expressed confidence that the India-US relationship will grow even stronger in the years to come. Mr Modi said, our rich people-to-people linkages are among our strongest assets. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi termed Prime Minister Modi’s US visit as landmark.
Prime Minister will bring home 157 artefacts and antiquities, which were handed over to India by the US during his visit. Mr Modi and President Biden expressed their commitment to strengthening efforts to combat theft, illicit trade and trafficking of cultural objects. While nearly half of the artefacts are cultural, the other half consists of figurines related to Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, an official statement said.
