US President Joe Biden, PM Modi resolve to advance US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership

The first ever in person meeting between US President, Joe Biden and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held in Washington on 24th September. It was followed by delegation level talks between the two sides. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, Foreign secretary Harshavardhan Shringla and Indian Ambassador to USA, Taranjit Singh Sandhu participated from the Indian side. A joint statement was issued after the meeting.
The Joint Statement says that India and United States denounced cross border terrorism. It has asked that the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack must be brought to justice. The two countries came out strongly against any use of terrorist proxies. They have emphasized the importance of denying any logistical, financial or military support to terrorist groups which could be used to launch or plan terror attacks.
Both the leaders made it clear that Afghan soil must not be used to threaten or attack any country or to shelter or train or fund the terrorists. They asked Taliban to stick to their commitments on human rights, safe passage to those who want to leave the country and protect the rights of women. The two leaders gave a call for a free and open Indo-Pacific which should be inclusive and resilient.
US President Joe Biden Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Modi called for charting a new course to advance the partnership. They resolved to advance the US-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. President Biden welcomed the announcement by India that it will resume export of COVID19 Vaccine including to COVAX.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed US leadership on climate action. United States promised India to accelerate clean energy development and deployment of critical technologies to advance a clean energy transition.
The two leaders agreed to expand cooperation in areas of critical and emerging technology- Space, cyber, health security, semiconductors, Artificial intelligence, 5G, future generation telecommunications technology and Blockchain.
President Biden and Prime Minister Modi celebrated the deep and vibrant ties between the people of the two nations.
