Kangana Ranaut appears before Mumbai court in Javed Akhtar defamation case

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut today appeared before court in Mumbai today in a defamation case filed against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar. The case has been adjourned till 15th of November. Ranaut today came to the court after failing to adhere to court summons for number of times pertaining to the case.

Earlier, on 15th of this month, a Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court granted exemption from appearance to the actor in the defamation proceedings and said that it would issue an arrest warrant against her, if she remains absent during the next hearing. Akhtar had last year filed a complaint alleging that Ranaut made defamatory statements on national and international television. Meanwhile, Ranaut’s lawyer has filed a transfer application in the case which will be heard on 1st of October.
