Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with the healthcare workers & beneficiaries of the Covid-19 vaccination program in Goa through video conferencing.
Foremost in his address, he congratulated the healthcare workers & beneficiaries for achieving the target of administering 100% vaccination among the adult population in the state.
Interaction with healthcare workers & beneficiaries:
During PM’s interaction with the healthcare workers and beneficiaries, he enquired about their personal experiences and the challenges they faced in achieving this milestone feat.
He asked Dr. Nitin Dhupdale, Lecturer in Goa Medical College, how he convinced people to take Covid vaccines. Further, PM Modi enquired from the healthcare workers and beneficiaries how they overcame the challenges of logistics, cold storage, vaccine wastage, mitigating myths & taking the campaign to the remotest corners of the state.
While interacting with Shashikant Bhagat, a 75-year-old beneficiary of the Covid-19 vaccination program, Prime Minister Modi advised him not to dwell on his 75 years, but to focus on the 25 years to come.
The PM also lauded the doctors, healthcare workers, and other Corona warriors for their efforts and contributions in the completion of 100% first dose coverage for the adult population in Goa. He said that this is an inspiration for the entire world.
Goa epitomizes the concept of Ek Bharat -Shreshth Bharat
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi lauded the people of Goa for achieving Anant Sutr’ (Protection) against Covid-19, during the auspicious Ganesh Utsav season. He expressed happiness as every eligible person in Goa got inoculated with at least one dose of the vaccine.
He further said that every achievement of Goa epitomizes the concept of Ek Bharat -Shreshth Bharat.
‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka, Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’
Prime Minister Modi remarked the combined efforts of every Goan in the last few months for putting up a brave fight against natural calamities like heavy rains, cyclones & floods. He praised all the corona warriors, health workers, and Team Goa for maintaining the pace of corona vaccination amidst these natural calamities.
He further commended the kind of coordination that Goa has shown in dealing with social and geographical challenges. The pace of vaccination in the Canacona sub-division, located in the remotest parts of the state, sets an example for the rest of the state. “Goa has shown the great results of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka, Vishwas and Sabka Prayas,” said PM Modi.
Record Vaccination across the country:
PM Modi extended his heartfelt gratitude towards the medical fraternity, engaged for the last two years, in the service of the nation, without caring for their own lives in the fight against Covid-19.
Further, PM informed that Himachal, Goa, Chandigarh, and Lakshadweep have completed the first dose of vaccination for the eligible population. While, Sikkim, Andaman Nicobar, Kerala, Laddakh, Uttrakhand, and Dadra Nagar haveli are not far behind.
Priority to tourism:
PM elucidated the efforts that India made in prioritizing the tourist destinations in its vaccination efforts.
He said, it was important for our tourism destinations to open. The Central government has also recently taken several steps to encourage foreign tourists. In this line, it has been decided to give free visas to 5 lakh tourists visiting India, loan up to 10 lakh with a government guarantee to the stakeholders in the tourism sector and loan up to 1 lakh for registered tourist guides have been instituted, the Prime Minister informed.
The Prime Minister said that the ‘double engine government’ is powering the efforts of making the Goan tourism sector more attractive and giving more facilities to farmers and fishermen of the state. Mopa greenfield airport and 6 lane highway with the allocation of 12 thousand crores, Zuari bridge connecting North and South Goa to be inaugurated in few months are enhancing connectivity in the state.
Pledge for Swayam Poorna Goa:
PM Modi noted that Goa has taken the pledge of a ‘Swayam Poorna Goa’ that is to attain Aatmanirbharta in Amrit Kaal. For this, it has started manufacturing more than 50 components.
Further, PM underlined Goa’s achievements in toilet coverage, cent percent electrification, and the great effort for the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ campaign. The country has connected 5 crore households with piped water in 2 years and Goa’s efforts in this direction show the state’s clear priority for good governance and ease of living.
Prime Minister also applauded Goa’s efforts in providing ration to poor families, free gas cylinder, distribution of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, expansion of Kisan Credit Cards in mission mode during the pandemic, and Svanidhi scheme benefits to street vendors. Calling Goa a state of boundless possibilities, PM Modi said, Goa is not just a state, but a strong embodiment of an empowered Brand India.
