Government Approves Relief Package for a Robust Telecom Sector

In a big boost to Telecom Industry, The Union Cabinet has approved a number of structural and process reforms to increase the penetration of broadband & telecom connectivity in the nation.

These new reforms are expected to protect and generate employment opportunities, promote healthy competition, protect the interests of consumers, infuse liquidity, encourage investment and reduce the regulatory burden on Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).

The Government of India has initiated these reforms in the backdrop of outstanding performance of the Telecom Sector in meeting COVID-19 challenges, with a huge surge in data consumption, online education, work from home, interpersonal connect through social media, virtual meetings and much more.

The cabinet approved 9 structural reforms and 5 process reforms for the telecom sector.
