Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had held a review meeting with the top officials at Jamnagar and Rajkot, the flood hit districts yesterday. He also instructed the concerned district authorities to start the survey work in the flood hit areas. He said that looking at the IMD alert of heavy rain, more NDRF teams will be deployed if required. He had also undertaken the aerial survey of the worst hit areas of Saurashtra region.
Normal life has been badly affected in Saurashtra region following heavy rain and. Rajkot, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Junagadh districts are the worst hit. Rescue and relief works are in full swing in the flood hit areas. 20 teams of NDRF have been deployed in different parts of the state following the heavy rain and floods. Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard are helping the NDRF personnel and district administrations in relief and rescue operations.
Nearly 8 thousand people have been shifted to the safer places from the low lying areas. Similarly, nearly 200 people have been rescued till now
