Centre decides to set up seven new Ekalavya Vidyalayas in Assam

The Centre has decided to set up seven new Ekalavya Vidyalayas in Assam. In a tweet, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this after a meeting with Union Tribal Affairs minister Arjun Munda in Guwahati today.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs would also set up 400 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote tribal art and craft as well as to provide livelihood opportunities to the tribal population.
Apart from that both the leaders have discussed setting up of five Tribal Food Parks in the state.

Mr. Munda also presented the Van Dhan Award 2020-2021 to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Tribal Affairs Ministry has awarded the Van Dhan National Award 2021-22 to TRISSAM of Assam in the category of Collaborative Initiative for co branding in Van Dhan Yojana.

Several ministers of Assam and senior officials of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs attended the meeting.

Later, Mr. Munda attended the closing ceremony of Voice of North East event at Sonapur near Guwahati.
