Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur today addressed the faculty and students of Jawaharlal Nehru University on the occasion of 128th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago speech. In his address, Mr Thakur said, India is a nation proud of its heritage and looking to the future. He said, it is a nation that values new ideas and focuses on innovation for building New India.
Mr Thakur said, India is a nation that believes both in the healing power of Spirituality and the transforming power of Software to make the world a better place. He said, in life we have to learn new things every moment.
The Minister appealed to the youth to keep upgrading their skills so that in the 21st century India becomes the largest skilled manpower provider in the world.
Mr Thakur said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and Mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas embodies and encapsulates the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda. He said the historic speech paved the way for establishing dialogues between the east and the west on spiritual grounds for the first time.
The Minister said, through his speech, Swami Vivekananda gave the World an introduction of India’s ancient civilization and cultural identity and his words awakened and inspired many to assert India’s national identity. He said, Swami Vivekananda was a Spiritual Giant and Globally respected thinker. Mr Thakur said, Swamiji was an icon whose ideas continue to shape the Ideals even today. He said, India is a youthful nation of 135 crore Indians, rising and ready to lead the world.
