In Maharashtra, the Palghar district, which was given a target to complete 25 thousand 682 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) has so far completed 23 thousand 424 houses. The remaining two thousand 258 are yet to be completed.
The scheme is proving beneficial for the people living in the hamlets of the district. Palghar is predominantly a tribal district.
Sarpanch of Chahade Gram Panchayat Vatsala Mali, while talking to AIR News, said, the first instalment of 15 thousand rupees is given to the beneficiaries under the scheme. Accordingly, one lakh 20 thousand rupees are disbursed to the beneficiaries in following three instalments.
