Assam: Death toll in Majuli boat mishap gone up to 2

In Assam, the death toll in the Majuli boat mishap has gone up to two. The body of a missing passenger Indreshwar Bora was recovered today at Biswanath district. The search operation for another missing person is still on. Union minister and former Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal visited Majuli yesterday to take stock of the situation.

He assured to take all steps to prevent such incident in future. One person was died when the boat mishap occured at Nimatighat on Wednesday while 2 passemgers went missing. Nearly 90 persons were rescued or swam to safety. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after visiting the mishap spot banned the plying of single engine ferry between Jorhat and Majuli.
