Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly began today at Shillong with the House paying homage to several leaders who have passed away in the last six months.
The Chief Minister in his obituary references said that Meghalaya has lost three tall leaders like Dr PW Khongjee, Mihsalan Suchiang and Obil Kyndait. He said that the death of 20 leaders across the country is a great loss for the nation as a whole.
On the other hand, Opposition leader Dr Mukul Sangma also joined the House in condoling the demise of veteran leaders from the State. He pointed out that these great leaders have contributed tremendously in their own respective capacities.
Speaker of the House, Metbah Lyngdoh along with several other legislators of the House also paid their condolences and observed two minutes of silence.
On the first day of the eight-day long assembly session, Forest and Environment Minister, James PK Sangma introduced the Meghalaya Forest Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
