Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations continue at Tezpur

Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame, which commemorates 50 years of India’s resounding victory over Pakistan and the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971, was flagged off from the National War Memorial, New Delhi on 16 Dec last year and after travelling across the length and the breadth of the Country, reached Gajraj Corps, Tezpur on 08 September 2021 amidst a grand welcome ceremony with full military honours and fanfare.

On 09th September 21, the Victory Flame was taken to Regimental Training Centre SSB, Salonibari where an elaborate wreath laying ceremony was organised with the proud troops singing the SSB Song in honour of the flame. Continuing its glorious journey across Tezpur, the flame was displayed at Circuit House, Tezpur where the Deputy Commissioner addressed School children from the Tezpur Government Boys School, so as to to motivate the future generation and generate patriotic fervour amongst them.

The Flame was further taken to office of the Superintendent of Police, Tezpur and then to Tezpur College where a colourful and vibrant welcome was accorded. Therafter, a short run with the Victory Flame was organised by HQ CE(P) Vartak followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

HQ 55 ITBP honoured the Flame and paraded it around the campus on motorcycles and was proudly saluted on its way out. Subsequently, a grand welcome was organised for the Victory Flame at Tezpur University where young scholars addressed the enthusiastic crowd present with great patriotism and nationalistic feeling.

A song was also sung by the students in honour of the sacrifices made by the Indian Army in the 1971 War. Lastly, after an eventful day in Tezpur, the flame was handed over to military authorities in Solmara Cantonment where a football match was organised in honour of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame.
