Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations will not be allowed at public places in the national capital in view of COVID-19 pandemic. Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has advised the people to celebrate the festival at home.The decision has been taken considering the prevailing restrictions on gatherings and congregations and the present situation of the pandemic.
The DDMA has directed all District Magistrates of Delhi and their counterpart District Deputy Commissioners of Police and all authorities concerned to ensure that no idol of Lord Ganesha will be set up in the tent and public places nor any kind of permission will be granted for procession. It has asked them to encourage the public to celebrate the festival at their homes.
They have also been asked to ensure that the crowd does not gather in any religious and social place in any manner. It also directed the District Magistrates and District DCPs to convene meetings with religious and community leaders and Ganesh Chaturthi Festival Samitis before the festival to get their cooperation to maintain the law and order and harmony.
