Domestic equity benchmark indices decline for 2nd straight day amid weak global cues

Domestic equity benchmark indices declined for the second straight day on Wednesday amid weak global cues. The rupee also depreciated 18 paise against the US dollar.

The Sensex the Bombay Stock Exchange lost 29 points to end at 58,250. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange fell just 9 points, to close at 17,354.

In the forex market, the rupee depreciated 18 paise to close at 73 rupees and 60 paise against the US dollar.

Gold prices declined 110 rupees at Multi Commodity Exchange for October contracts in sync with losses in the international markets. The precious metal was trading at 47,050 rupees per ten gram. Silver lost 29 rupees to 64,650 rupees per kilogram for December Contracts when reports last came in.

Oil prices treaded lower in intra-day trade. Brent crude was trading around 72.50 dollars per barrel.
