In Ladakh, Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated five-day Mega Multi-Speciality Health Camp organized by Al-Reza Health Care and Research Foundation (AHC&RF) and Kargil District Hospital at Inqilab Complex.
On the 1st day of the camp, Dr Usha Kiran, who is an UK trained Consultant with more than 25 years of experience, currently working at Prime Hospital, Dubai, performed six gynaecological surgeries. One of the hysterectomies had a fibroid tumour which was 1.75 kg which was removed. This is the first time in the history of Kargil that Laparoscopic Gynaecological Surgery was performed.
Speaking to media, Dr Usha Kiran said that there is need for improvement in the infrastructure at the District Hospital Kargil, particularly in the Operation Theatre with amenities and instruments required for complex open and laparoscopic surgeries. These surgeries have a quicker recovery time with early mobility and hence are very much beneficial and necessary for these female patients have a physical hardship in their daily life, which will help them to get back on their feet sooner. She assured to visit Kargil in future also so such specialized care can be brought to the doorstep of these needy and poor people who cannot afford it otherwise.
In addition, 280 patients were examined in Ophthalmology OPD, 270 patients examined in Chest OPD, 153 patients examined in Psychiatric OPD and 110 patients attended in Ortho OPD and 11 Total Knee Replacement.
