Jammu becomes a part of India’s giant scientific leaps under PM Modi: Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Union MOS (IC) Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on Sunday (05/09/2021) inaugurated the latest upgraded state-of-the-art Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) & Indigenous GPS based Pilot Sonde at the Indian Meteorological Office, Jammu .

At the inaugural event,  Dr. Jitendra Singh said, Jammu has become a part of India’s giant scientific leaps under PM Narendra Modi.

 About  X-Band Doppler Weather Radar:

The X-Band Doppler Weather Radar will provide real-time monitoring that will ensure access to improved weather services to the people of J&K and an input to numerical weather prediction models for generating better weather forecasts.

How it’ll benefit the people of Jammu?

– Real-time monitoring and reporting of weather events will help in providing weather forecasts in different sectors including agriculture and tourism forecast especially for the pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in the Jammu region.

– It opens huge career prospects & employment avenues for youth in Space Technology, Aroma farming, Atomic Energy, Meteorology etc.

 Giant Scientific leaps in last 7 years:

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that, in addition to the  X-Band Doppler Weather Radar system installed in Jammu, several new scientific establishments set up in the region during the last few years under the Modi government are all monuments of the New Jammu.

These monuments include North India’s first Biotech Industrial Park at Kathua, the first Space/ISRO Centre of North India at Central University, the Purple Revolution led by Lavender & the first Cannabis Medicinal Plant launched by IIIM Jammu, the first -ever National Institute of High Altitude Medicine at Bhaderwah, the first- ever Mega -quintal Seed Processing Plant at Kathua, latest Weather forecast instrument installed at SanjhiChhat for convenience of Vaishano Devi pilgrims, the high altitude Radio Relay Station launched at Patnitop, etc.

Congruent with PM’s vision:

PM Modi’s revolutionary decision to “unlock” India’s Space Technology & other sectors to private players for the first time after independence will not only bring ‘ease of living’ for people & ‘ease of environment’ for private players, but will also boost the scientific innovative environment in the country, the Minister said.

Dr. Jitendra further said, “PM’s highest priority to scientific developments by providing highest budgetary allocations to the Ministry & Departments of Science is reflected by the giant scientific leaps undertaken in the last 7 years, under his leadership.”

PM Modi’s efforts in providing the necessary infrastructure and fund allocation to scientific developments have significantly removed the hurdles in the development of science and technology in the country.
