Teachers’ Day: President says, education must inculcate loyalty to constitutional values and strengthen feeling of love for country; Virtually felicitates 44 teachers with National Awards

President Ram Nath Kovind today urged teachers to keep in mind that every student has different abilities, different talents, different psychology, different social background and environment. He said, therefore, the emphasis should be on the all-round development of each child according to his special needs, interests and abilities.

President said, the education system should be such that students should inculcate loyalty to the constitutional values and fundamental duties of citizens, strengthen the feeling of love for the country. Mr Kovind reminded that itt is the duty of teachers to inculcate interest in studies in their students and sensitive teachers can shape the future of students by their behavior, conduct and teaching.

Speaking on Teachers’ Day, Mr Kovind remembered Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and said he was known as a philosopher and scholar across the world. However, he wanted to be remembered only as a teacher. President said, he has left an indelible mark as a great teacher.

President Ram Nath Kovind also felicitated the Nation’s best 44 teachers in the field of education, virtually, with the National Awards. A documentary film on each of the awardee teachers was also shown. The award was to accord public recognition to meritorious teachers working in elementary and secondary schools.

Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, his three other colleagues in the ministry and officials were present on the occasion.

Earlier, President Kovind paid floral tributes to Dr S. Radhakrishnan, former President on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Expressing happiness after getting awards from the President, awardee teachers echoed sentiments of Mr Kovind that they have a great role in nation-building. We spoke to an elated Muhammad Ali from Ladakh.

The primary responsibility of combining the inherent talents of the students lies with the teachers and a good teacher is a personality-builder said Rajasthan’s, Deepak Joshi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the teachers, students, parents and stakeholders associated with education on Tuesday. Prime Minister will launch five initiatives of the Department, Indian Sign Language dictionary of 10 thousand words, Talking Books the audiobooks for visually impaired, School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework of CBSE, NISTHA teachers’ training programme for NIPUN Bharat and Vidyanjali Portal for facilitating education volunteers or donors or CSR contributors for school development.
