The Covid-19 pandemic proved financially challenging for many households. In a number of families, the sole earning member lost job or faced disruption in income source and became victim of tough financial crisis. Many Parents in such financial straits could not afford to pay their children’s college fees. Some also decided to engage their children to opt some job while giving break to their ongoing education.
Witnessing the trend, Sonopant Dandekar College of Palghar district of Maharashtra extended a helping hand to the students of their college so that their education would not be disrupted.
College Principal Dr. Kiran Save, while informing All India Radio about this, said that the college started the student adoption scheme so that the education of the students who are in financial crisis should not be stopped. In this, the education institute has provided financial assistance from the teachers’ salaries to cover the education expenses of many students. He said that the move has benefited about 200 students.
