In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu-Akhnoor Highway project which was affected on account of reverse migration of labourers due to Covid-19 pandemic, has now gathered pace and is expected to be completed by March 2022.
AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that this project is being constructed by National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) a company under the Ministry of Roads and Highways. The 30 Kms Jammu-Akhnoor highway project is very important as it connects the twin Border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and is also a very important defence road. This road will be very useful during wartime as it is very useful for the army movement. This highway will smoothen the traffic movement in Jammu city and the city will get rid of traffic congestion.
