Acharya Vinoba Bhave’s loyal and Gandhian Haribhau Vasudev Talile breathed his last at Wardha’s Mahatma Gandhi ashram yesterday. He was 89. He was diagnosed with throat cancer. Haribhau hailed from Satod village in Jalgaon district. At young age, Talile quit his job as a teacher and went straight to the ashram of Acharya Vinoba Bhave’s brother Shivaji Bhave in Dhule. He was entrusted with the responsibility of the Ashram work. He also lived for many years in the ashram at Gagode, the birthplace of Acharya Vinoba Bhave. Later, he started working at the Brahmavidya Mandir in Pawanar. His mastery and recitation of Bhagavad Gita, Dhammapada, Pali language and other literature was overwhelming. He had participated in the Bhudan movement under the guidance of Acharya Vinoba Bhave. For the last four years, he has been living in the Mahatma Gandhi Ashram in Wardha. Despite his advanced age, he has been enthusiastically participating in the day-to-day activities of the Ashram. He had been suffering from cancer for the last few months.
