Cricket: England to resume first innings against India at overnight score of 53 for three on day 2 of fourth Test match in London

In Cricket, England will resume their first innings against India at an overnight score of 53 for three on day 2 of fourth Test match at The Oval in London today. Dawid Malan and Craig Overton were at the crease when the stumps were drawn on the first day yesterday. Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both England openers in the same over and later Umesh Yadav captured the wicket of captain Joe Root. At the close of play, the Hosts still trailed by 138 runs with seven wickets in hand.

Earlier, put into bat first, India were bundled out for 191 by England bowlers as Pacer Chris Woakes scalped four wickets and Ollie Robinson took three wickets.

For India, Virat Kohli with 50 off 96 balls and Shardul Thakur with 57 off 36 balls made valuable contributions to take the visitors to a respectable total.

England hold an upper hand in the match after defeating India by an innings and 76 runs in the third Test at Leeds and thus levelling the five-match series 1-1. India had taken 1-0 lead after trouncing Hosts by 151 runs at Lord’s in the second Test. The first Test had ended in a draw
