Educational institutions in Bangladesh upto the Higher Secondary level may open from 12 September as COVID 19 cases in the country are showing a declining trend. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has said that primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the country might be reopened from September 12 and examinations will be held in November and December. However, the final decision will be taken in the inter-ministerial meeting scheduled to be held on Sunday. In an earlier order, the government has ordered the closure of schools till September 11.
After the opening of the educational institutions, they will be instructed to send a mandatory daily report on maintaining health rules, said the minister.
Educational institutions in Bangladesh have remained closed since March last year when the first COVID 19 case was detected in the country.
Meanwhile, COVID 19 deaths and infections declined further on Friday. According to the latest figures released by the Directorate General of Health Services, 70 persons died and 3167 new cases of Corona infection were detected in Bangladesh on Friday. Death toll in the country has gone up to 26,432. The sample positivity rate went up slightly to 10.76 percent in the last 24 hours since Thursday. The recovery rate in the country stood at over 95 percent.
