Meghalaya reported 211 fresh COVID-19 cases along with 192 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Directorate of Health Services informed that seven fatalities were also reported, four from East Khasi Hills district and one each from Ri-Bhoi, West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts. The total number of COVID deaths in the state has reached 1,322. The number of active cases in Meghalaya stands at 2,275 while the number of recovered cases has reached 72,714.
Meanwhile, Director of Health Services Dr. Aman War said that the state is keeping a close watch on what is happening in other metro cities with regard to the surge in COVID cases. He added that all steps are taken so that it is not repeated in Meghalaya. He further said that all Government and Private Hospitals are working towards vaccinating the citizens and urged the people to get vaccinated at the earliest.
So far, Meghalaya has vaccinated 13,38,585 people out of which 10,27,512 have received the first dose and 3,11,073 have received both doses.
