Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates Web Portal for registrations of units under New Central Sector Scheme 2021 for J&K

Home Minister Amit Shah today inaugurated the Web Portal for registrations of units under the New Central Sector Scheme 2021 for Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shah said, it’s a new dawn for investment and business development in Jammu and Kashmir and investment of more than 50 thousand crore rupees is now expected to take place there. He said, after the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir is now on the track of development, peace and prosperity. Mr Shah said, grassroot level democracy has been strengthened with three-tire panchayat elections in the Union Territory.

In his address, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said, beginning of online Portal and roll out of Central Sector Schemes is historic and this mechanism would further improve ease of doing business and bring all-round transparency. He said, once the chain of investment starts, other things will be added around it and a complete ecosystem will be created. Mr Goyal said, lakhs of people will not only get work opportunities from this scheme, but at the same time other sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and handicrafts will also be benefited. He said, the scheme will make Jammu and Kashmir self-reliant, developed and empowered.

Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Ministers of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash and Anupriya Patel were present on the occasion. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joined the event virtually.

This on-line portal has been designed and developed for effective implementation of the scheme in transparent manner and with the objective of ease of doing business. The entire process under the scheme, applying for registration, submitting claims and their processing within the Department, is through the portal deliberately done to avoid human interface.

After the launch, the ever biggest industrial scheme which is expected to bring about radical transformation in the existing industrial ecosystem of Jammu and Kashmir to compete with other leading industrially developed States and UTs of the country stands opened for registration of eligible units under the Scheme.

The Scheme aims to give fresh thrust to industry and services led development of J&K with emphasis on job creation, skill development and sustainable development by attracting new investment and nurturing the existing ones.

The Scheme also supports employment to about 35 thousand persons indirectly already working in existing units through Working Capital Interest subvention component of the scheme. It is expected that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will have an additional investment about 12 thousand crore rupees in establishment of about 1200 industrial units.
