Maharashtra becomes first state with most number of fully vaccinated citizens

Maharashtra has become the first state with the most number of fully vaccinated citizens and stress has been given to administer more number of second doses so that more number of citizens will be able to avail the benefits of relaxations given to the fully vaccinated people. But at the same time due to the increased number of tests and increase in number of people travelling in Mumbai the number of daily cases are on the rise in Mumbai.

Maharashtra has administered 5 crore 71 lakh 66 thousand 822 total doses to the beneficiaries in the state including 4 crore 17 lakh 31 thousand 841 first doses and 1 crore 54 lakh 34 thousand 981 second doses. With this the state has the highest number of fully vaccinated people in the country.

Mumbai is leading with more than 25 lakh fully vaccinated beneficiaries and Pune is in the second place with more than 21 lakh beneficiaries and Thane stands third with nearly 13 lakh fully vaccinated beneficiaries. A special vaccination drive for women above 45 years is being held in Palghar district on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

The drive is being held on 52 centres in the district with the facility of green corridor for pregnant women and lactating mothers who do not have to wait in the queues for the vaccination.

Meanwhile, considering the threat of the third wave Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has increased the rate of daily tests and checking is done of the travellers coming to Mumbai from other states as well as travellers of local trains. This has slightly increased the number of daily cases in Mumbai for past few days. As compared to total tests done, positive cases are about 1% only. In the backdrop of the threat of the third wave, administration has increased awareness campaigns and precautionary measures.
