The flood situation in Assam continues to be grim. More than 2.25 lakh people from 15 districts of the state have been affected by flood due to incessant rain in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring country Bhutan.
So far 512 villages of Assam have been affected under 34 revenue circles and 16,338 hectares of cropland have been submerged under flood water including damage of 27 roads and 2 bridges.
According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Bongaigaon, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Majuli, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Tinsukia have been affected by flood.
Central Water Commission reported that water level has crossed the danger mark and is rising in Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Goalpara and Kokrajhar districts.
