Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike vaccinated 1,64,787 persons yesterday under a special drive. There were 788 session sites, 264 fixed sites, 203 mobile government sites and 321 private sites where the vaccination drive was held yesterday.
The urban primary health centres, ward offices, government hospitals, schools and college premises, wedding halls, construction sites were among those where the vaccination drive was held. Bengaluru Electricity company, BESCOM employees, the security staff in Malls, construction workers, employees at orphanages, telecom company employees, roadside vendors, garment factory workers were inoculated.
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has informed that 74 per cent of people above the age of 18 have been given the first dose and 26 per cent the second dose of COVID vaccine. He said that 400 or more vaccine doses are being supplied to each of the 198 municipal wards in the city and around 80,000 to 90,000 people are getting the vaccine daily.
Saying that there is enough stock of vaccine in the city, he requested the people to visit the nearest Primary Health Centre to get their jab. BBMP has planned to vaccinate the employees of commercial establishments, industries, hotels and restaurants and offices by this month end.
