Health Secretary advises Maha govt to impose local restrictions in view of ensuing festivals

Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte advising the state government to consider imposing and enforcing local restrictions in view of the ensuing Dahi Handi and 10-day Ganesh festivals.

In a letter sent to Mr. Kunte on 27th of this month, Mr. Bhushan said that there are some districts which are showing an early signs of upsurge in cases and test positivity.

He said that any laxity in ensuring strict adherence to the five-fold strategy of test-track-treat and vaccinate and ensuring Covid-appropriate behaviour may result in losing the impetus that Maharashtra and the country has gained so far in managing the pandemic.
