The Assam Government is to construct 1,000 Model Anganwadi Centres in the state. Talking to AIR, Social Welfare Director Bibhas Modi said that each centre would cost 25 lakh rupees. He said that for the first time, Model Anganwadi Centres to be constructed in such number and price by the government.
Mr. Modi also said that the government would also decide to construct an Old-Age Home-cum-Rescue Centre at Boko with the cost of 100 crore rupees. He said that the proposed centre would give shelter to senior citizens as well as rescued children from trafficking.
The Director said that during the COVID situation dry ration and nutritional foods are being served to children and women. He said that for the betterment of severally malnourished children, nutritional rehabilitation centres have been set up at various places in the state.
