Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla appealed all democratic institutions to encourage greater public participation in every processes. He inaugurated parliamentary outreach programme for the empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions of UT Ladakh in Leh today.
Om Birla in his address to Panchayat representatives , block development councillors and hill council representatives, said greater public participation in development processes help in strengthening democracy. He also appealed to voters to participate in democratic processes of their requirements.
Om Birla opined that even parliament while making Acts must consider public opinion. He said, Public participation would help in socio economic upliftment of society.
Union Ministers Nityanand Rai, Bhagwant Khube, Ladakh LG RK Mathur Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, LAHDC CECs Feroz Ahmed Khan and Tashi Gyaltson also spoke on the occasion.
