UK PM Boris Johnson set to call on G7 leaders today to step up their support for Afghan people

Prime Minister of United Kingdom Boris Johnson is all set to call on the Group of Seven (G7) leaders today to step up their support for the Afghan people at the group’s emergency meeting on Afghanistan. Johnson is reconvening the leaders for crisis talks on Afghanistan amid widespread unhappiness about Biden’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Complaints have come from Britain, France, Germany and others in the G-7, which includes only one non-NATO member, Japan.

Earlier, Johnson had taken to Twitter and said that he will convene G7 leaders on today for urgent talks on the situation in Afghanistan. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the Taliban will be judged by its deeds rather than words. Ahead of chairing an emergency G7 virtual meet to coordinate international response to the Afghan crisis, Mr Johnson said , the priority is to complete the evacuation of our citizens and those Afghans who have assisted our efforts over the last 20 years but as we look ahead to the next phase, it’s vital we come together as an international community and agree a joint approach for the longer term.
