Sensex surges 403 pts to end at 55,959; Nifty gains128 pts to 15,625

The Sensex and the Nifty today gained more than half a percent.

Both equity indices added more than half a percent amid positive cues from the global equity markets.

The Sensex closed above 55,900 while the Nifty finished above 16,600 level.

The BSE Sensex climbed 403 points, or 0.73 percent, to close at 55,959.

The NSE Nifty also surged 128 points, or 0.78 percent, to settle at 15,625.
