In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, five terrorists including a top Lashkar-e-Toiba Commander have been eliminated by the security forces in two different encounters in the Kashmir valley since last evening. Police said that three unidentified terrorists were gunned down by security forces today in a gunfight that broke out last night between terrorists and security forces at Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Earlier, two terrorists including a top Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terror outfit were neutralised last night by Jammu & Kashmir Police at Aaluchi Bagh area in Srinagar city. As per police records, both the slain terrorists were involved in killing of several political workers, police personnel and civilians. Saqib Manzoor was involved in killing of Adv Babar Qadri last year. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said with the collective efforts of Police, Army, CRPF and the people of Kashmir, more than 100 terrorists have been neutralised so far in this year in the Kashmir Valley.
