From the Jacquard of Uttar Pradesh to Madhya Pradesh’s Chanderi, from the Phulkari of Punjab to the Brocare of Benares, Handloom weaving is one of the most vibrant aspects of Indian cultural heritage.

To weave the future of Handloom industry, the Government has constituted a Committee for doubling the production and quadrupling the exports of handlooms in a span of 3 years. The Committee has been formed to suggest the roadmap and boost India’s handloom sector.

Let’s get to know more about the Terms of Reference of the Committee.

It will help in suggesting the strategy and policy framework for doubling the production and for improving the quality of handloom products to enhance the income of the weavers. It will also look into the partnering and collaboration of handloom weavers agencies with the designers, buying houses and institutions, organizations and exporters.
